Active ingredients:
Trimethoprimum (TM) and Sulfamethoxazolum (SMZ). The combination of the two active ingredients TM and SMZ has become common under the name Co-trimoxazole.

Bactrim forte tablets
Beige-white tablets with a score line, 160 mg TM and 800 mg SMZ.
Indications/Possible Applications
Due to the sometimes serious side effects of Bactrim and the emerging resistance, a benefit-risk assessment should always be made before using Bactrim in comparison with other active ingredients that are also suitable for these indications.
Infections caused by co-trimoxazole-sensitive germs, such as:
Infections of the upper and lower airways and ear: acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, bronchiectasis, pneumonia (including Pneumocystis jirovecii (formerly carinii) pneumonia), sinusitis, otitis media.
Infections of the genitourinary system: acute and chronic cystitis, pyelonephritis, urethritis, prostatitis.
Infections of the gastrointestinal tract: traveler’s diarrhea, chronic typhoid excretor, cholera (as a supplementary measure to fluid and electrolyte intake).
In the following infections, cotrimoxazole should only be used if other currently recommended antibiotics cannot be given:
Typhoid, paratyphoid A and B, salmonella enteritis with septic disease courses in immunocompromised patients.
