Description

indication
The drug is effective against certain bacteria and is used
for the treatment of acute and chronic bacterial infections (diseases caused by infection) caused by pathogens sensitive to clindamycin, such as
Bone and joint infections
Ear, nose and throat infections
Tooth and jaw infections
Deep respiratory infections
Pelvic and abdominal infections
Infections of the female genital organs
Skin and soft tissue infections
Scarlet fever
In the case of severe clinical pictures, treatment with clindamycin-containing medicines, which are slowly administered into a blood vessel (infusions), should initially be carried out.
dosage
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
The recommended dose is
adults and young people
Depending on the location and severity of the infection, adults and adolescents over the age of 14 take 0.6 to 1.8 g of clindamycin daily. The daily intake is divided into 4 individual intakes.
Therefore, 4 to 6 hard capsules of clindamycin are taken daily (equivalent to 1.2 to 1.8 g clindamycin).
Dosage in liver diseases
The elimination half-life (a measure of the metabolic function of the liver) of clindamycin is prolonged in patients with moderate to severe liver disease. Dose reduction is not usually necessary if clindamycin is given every eight hours and the patient is carefully monitored. However, in patients with severe hepatic insufficiency (severely reduced liver function), the blood concentration of clindamycin should be monitored. Depending on the results of this measure, a dose reduction or an extension of the dosing interval may be necessary.
Dosage in kidney disease
In kidney disease, the elimination half-life (measure of kidney function) of clindamycin is prolonged; however, a dose reduction is not necessary in patients with mild to moderate renal impairment. However, clindamycin blood concentrations should be monitored in patients with severely impaired renal function or a lack of urine excretion. Based on the results of this measure, a dose reduction or a longer dosing interval of 8 or 12 hours may be necessary.
Dosage for hemodialysis (“blood washing”)
Clindamycin is not hemodialysable. No additional dose is therefore required before or after dialysis.

duration of use
The duration of the treatment depends on the underlying disease and the course of the disease and is determined by the doctor.
